I’ve been going to this gym for a couple of years - it’s gone through a handful of renovations since but it’s still somehow a very low quality gym. It’s like a zoo - never any downtime, it’s even busy at 7am. The women’s bathroom doesn’t have any tissues to dry your hands and the toilets are always dirty. There’s never any 10/15/20 pound dumb bells. People go to this gym in groups and spend their time standing around chit chatting with each other hogging machines instead of finishing their sets. Or they go alone then they hog the machine for 30+ minutes dilly dallying on their phone. There isn’t enough floor space for a personal dumb bell workout or stretching. The water machines don’t work. The drinks and snacks are ridiculously overpriced. Nearly $6 for a bag of Quest Chips, straight up thieves. Machines stay broken for weeks. Unfortunately, this is the closest gym to me so I haven’t been able to make the switch to another one - minimal commute helps with work/life balance. But the chaos of this gym has begun to irritate me. They need a larger space to accommodate for all the additional people who have signed up for a membership in the last year. You can’t even start a set without at least two people starring you down or someone constantly interrupting you to ask you how many more sets you have - when you just started!

Apr 02, 2025 · Debbie LazoThis gym is the first one I have joined, so I don't have any comparisons to other places, but my experience has been great so far. The staff and coaches are always welcoming. I appreciate the point system, which motivates me to go to the gym regularly. Evenings around 7-8 pm during the middle of the week are very busy, and I sometimes have to wait to use the equipment. However, most of the equipment is in good condition. On weekends, I can use any equipment without waiting. My hypertension issues have improved significantly since I started going to the gym, so I will continue coming here to maintain my health.
Feb 06, 2025 · Akira KarasawaI recently moved to Rego Park and have been checking out gyms in the area. I visited Retro Fitness, and it was a terrible experience. First, they don’t provide cleaning cloths for wiping down equipment before or after use. When I needed assistance, I had to walk all the way to the front desk because there were no staff members around to help. The person at the front desk turned out to be a trainer, who immediately tried to sell me his services. However, as soon as I told him I just needed help with the machines and wasn’t interested in hiring a trainer, his attitude completely changed. He was busy and unwilling to assist me. The gym is not clean, and the customer service is lacking. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Mar 05, 2025 · Carolina SantiagoJust want to give a big shout out to Alfred, he was an absolute life saver at the gym today! The situation could have easily escalated into a confrontation but Alfred stepped in with such professionalism and calmness. What could have been a negative experience turned into a positive one thanks to Alfred. The gym is lucky to have someone like him who truly cares about creating a welcoming and harmonious environment for all members, some of the members really rude
Mar 14, 2025 · Jason WangIt is a decent place to work out. Continuously renovates and improves itself. I have a good impression. However, it is completely uncontrolled. People continuously uses their cells in workout places, weights are not arranged at all and people loudly talks here and there-even a trainer creates this kind of loud talk. They think it is social-friendly environment. Maybe it is good for some but not for me.
