3.0

I come to this SoHo Equinox 2-3 times a week before work, as it is on my way to the office. Something about biking to the gym on an empty stomach in 30 degree weather before the sun has risen makes me feel like Rocky. Like David Goggins. Like a 2013 Conor McGregor. I'm just so hungry. Being on the road when it's just me and construction workers out makes me feel so beast. It just feels like a win opening up the gym door at 5:45am, walking up 3 flights of stairs and greeting the sleepy staff who couldn't be less interested in my presence. I drop my stuff in the locker room and get down to the largely empty gym floor. Everyone else in here at this time has all my respect. I see 15ish people in here before me, and give them a subtle nod as if to say "I see you workin...they not like us..." I don't actually do that but in my head we nonverbally communicate this. I hop on the little squat machine that overlooks the intersection of Prince St and Broadway, pop my airpods in, and start listening to some old Katy Perry and Kid Cudi as I'm fighting for my life doing these squats. I mf love this machine, but I'm not gonna hype it up too much because then other people will start using it. It lowkey just collects dust in the corner. After getting an amazing 45 minute sweat, I head up to the locker room to shower and change. Few things have hurt my soul more than when they switched all the skincare products from Kiehl's to that brand Grown Alchemist. Grown Alchemist is hot garbage, idc. How you gonna increase my membership every year but downgrade the products? Make that make sense. FREE KIEHL'S! After risking my skin health with Grown Alchemist, I change into my button down, slacks, and dress shoes and clock into the matrix. The matrix has been whoopin me lately, but these early mornings here at this beautiful Equinox make me feel better, as at least I have done something for myself. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Anyone considering paying for this luxurious and expensive gym, think twice about their terrible service. Across multiple locations, the staff no longer care for or attend to customers as they did before you signed up. Once you become a member, if you lose something or forget an item, don’t expect any effort from the staff to assist you. No one will take the initiative to look for it or coordinate with others. Instead, you’ll receive an immediate response of “No, we don’t have it” the moment you ask. If it were me, I would at least say, “Please hold on, let me check for you,” or contact the housekeeping staff responsible. Their response is far too quick and dismissive, showing zero effort to help. Even the quality of the body lotion and shampoo has declined, yet the membership fees keep rising every year.

Eric Cherry (massage therapist) worked on me diligently and with more knowledge about anatomy than most doctors and fixed my back from not being able to walk to dancing again (seriously). Truly a master of the craft!

Nice gym but there is a huge theft problem here. I’ve been coming here regularly for 2.5 years. Today is the THIRD time I’ve had something stolen here. You’d think that a SoHo location of a premium gym wouldn’t have this issue with its clientele or staff but it does seem persistent The funny thing is the items I’ve had stolen are relatively inexpensive ~$100 compared to some of the things people put into their locker. Be careful!

New trainers act insanely entitled and behave inappropriately with each other and gym members. Turnover of management and staff here is insanely high because rather than fixing serious issues, they would rather leave. Every time you follow up on an issue, there is a new person stepping in, which means nothing is ever resolved. Don’t expect to receive any actual help or customer support from the training manager Haley. Trainers and employees also too busy flirting to take their job and complaints seriously. Myself and other women constantly feel uncomfortable with the amount of creepy old men who feel okay with hitting on woman while we are just trying to work out. Not a safe place and the staff don’t have your back. Please hire people who have actual management experience and care about the customer experience. $300 for this kind of experience is ridiculous.
