Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gym-goer, understanding proper gym etiquette is essential. Not only does it ensure that you're respecting others, but it also creates a more enjoyable environment for everyone. In this article, I'll share some important gym etiquette tips that you should keep in mind to make the most of your gym experience.

1. Clean Up After Yourself

One of the most important rules of gym etiquette is to clean up after yourself. This might seem like common sense, but you'd be surprised at how often people forget this simple rule. After using equipment, wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe to remove sweat, germs, or other residues. Whether it's a bench, a treadmill, or a set of dumbbells, leaving it clean for the next person is a basic courtesy that goes a long way.

I remember one time I was using a machine, and I noticed a heavy sweat stain left on the seat. I immediately grabbed a towel and wiped it down. It’s not only polite, but it also keeps the gym hygienic. Imagine sitting down on a machine that someone else left drenched with sweat. Yuck!

One time, I was at the gym during a busy evening, and a guy was on the squat rack for what felt like an eternity. I was ready to use it for my own sets, and he was clearly not in any rush.
